Dr. Daniel Banda, MD
Daniel Banda, a Medical Doctor from the Galápagos Islands, is deeply passionate about helping others and finding solutions to complex challenges. His vocation is not merely a career but a lifelong commitment to serving others. This dedication has led him to care for patients in some of the most chaotic and critical situations, including the aftermath of the devastating 7.8 magnitude earthquake in Pedernales in 2016, one of Ecuador's most catastrophic natural disasters.
During the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic, Daniel played a pivotal role as Head of Health Surveillance, leading containment efforts and directing medical teams as Director of the Public Health Center on Santa Cruz Island. On Isabela Island, he established an Alternate Care Site to provide intermediate care to patients in need.

After earning a Master's Degree in Health Direction and Management, Daniel took on the role of Medical Director at the public hospital on Santa Cruz Island. His relentless pursuit of improving the quality of healthcare services has earned him numerous accolades, including the Professional Merit Decoration from the Emergency Operations Committee, the Order of Meritorious Service from the Fire Department of Isabela Island, the Professional Merit Decoration from the Municipality of Santa Cruz, an Honorary Endowment from the Insular Naval Air Squadron Command, and the Professional Merit Award from the ECU-911 Integrated Security Service of Galápagos.

Currently, Daniel is focused on developing a private initiative for home medical care as CEO of EcoSalud-Galápagos. In his spare time, he enjoys relaxing in his hammock with a good book.
